SURVIVOR COMPOSER RUSS LANDAU SWEEPS THE GREATEST NUMBERS OF ASCAP AWARDS, IMPROVING REALITY" FOR A KENYAN VILLAGE

Russ Landau sweeps 5 ASCAP Awards last month, for Survivor and Fear Factor, and gives back to the Kenyan Village which gave him music inspiration. Landau auctioned his bass guitar on Ebay, and funds will be given to the Kenyan Village to keep school open for at least one more year.

LOS ANGELES (PRWEB) May 30, 2003 - After walking away with five awards from the ASCAP Film and Television Awards held April 20, 2003, composer Russ Landau is nowhere near slowing down. Honored for the three most recent Survivor themes, the series Fear Factor, as well as awarded for Most Performed Underscore, Landau is now giving back to those who inspired him along the way.

For musical inspiration, Landau spent time in Kenya, searching out ancient music while visiting with the Masai people in a village near the famous Masai Mara wildebeast migration. In an effort to give back, Landau has just auctioned off his bass guitar which he had signed by the entire cast of Survivor Amazon, host Jeff Probst and producer Mark Burnett (photo attached) on eBay. All proceeds will be donated to the Masai village to provide enough money ($4000) to keep the school going for more than a year.

I sat down with the eldest son of the village chief and we shared our stories," says Landau. I was welcomed into his home of sticks and dung. It wasn't until I asked that he told me how hard it was to find supplies and funds to keep the school running."

A major milestone in Landaus career came with signing on with Survivor, the hit reality television series for which he received his second Emmy nomination for its theme Ancient Voices" in 2001. Following this accomplishment, Landau scored Eco Challenge for USA, Fear Factor (1 & 2) for NBC, Survivor I -- Pulau Tiga, Survivor II -- Marquesas, Survivor V -- Thailand for CBS, Survivor UK for ITV based out of London and Combat Missions for USA. Additionally, Landau scored the main theme and underscore for both the first season of Dog Eat Dog.

He is currently scoring Survivor VI -- The Amazon (CBS), the second season of Dog Eat Dog (NBC), the third season of Fear Factor (NBC), Prehistoric Planet (NBC), Anything for Love (FOX), NBCs burgeoning variety/talent show Americas Most Talented Kid and the new series, Restaurant, for Mark Burnett.

On the other end of Russ creative spectrum, his feature film résumé includes such indie titles as the 1998 Jennifer Love Hewitt romance Telling You, One Hell of a Guy, the thriller Nowhere Land, Killer Bud and Love and Action in Chicago.

In addition to film and television successes, Russ is a devoted family man with two sons to which he dedicated his work on the children's CD book "Dinosongs: Poems to Celebrate A T-Rex Named Sue," narrated by Susan Sarandon and written by Kevin Krotty, which earned him another Grammy nomination. Russ has also composed for such worthy efforts as the Make-A-Wish Foundation and The Audrey Hepburn Children's Fund.
