Young Author Excited that Others are "Discovering" His Debut Novel Twenty-six old Virginia author Chris Sorensen is having wonderful success with is inspirational, debut novel, "The Greatest Discovery". Sorensen was hoping for success, but being young and self-published, he didn't think it would come so quickly. In the past four months the book has gone through two printings, giving Sorensen the fuel he needs to do what he really loves - sharing his story and experiences with others. Richmond, VA -- To most it would seem odd that a story about finding ones direction and potential in life could be written by a young man in his mid-twenties, but not to Chris Sorensen. When asked where he found the time to write, promote, and publish a book while attending undergraduate school, working, raising an infant, and starting graduate school, the twenty-six year-old Virginia native did not hesitate in responding. It was something I felt I had to share with others. The story touches on points and ideas that just about any body can relate to," says Sorensen. The fun part has been getting out and meeting people, to actually be able to show them how the story relates to them. To help them see the potential within themselves and the possibilities that surround them."
And to Chriss excitement, readers have been relating. The book, The Greatest Discovery", which is already a bestseller, was released in January with an initial printing of 2000, but because of demand a second printing of 5,000 had to come off the press in May. It is rare to find a self-published, debut novel that has the quality, marketability, and potential that Chriss book has. Because of its engrossing storyline that appeals to a wide audience it will be a book people will want to share with others," says Stacey Ricks, Community Relations Manager of Barnes and Nobles in Richmond. The book has gotten substantial media attention, both in Virginia and nationwide.
Although a work of fiction, the story is based on the authors life. Set in Virginia, The Greatest Discovery" tells the story of a young married man, Chris, an expecting father who has recently started graduate school. Over time, he begins to feel unsure about his career choice and what the future holds. But after befriending a wise, peculiar man named Lewis, Chriss way of thinking begins to change. Just as Chris feels that he is heading in the right direction, a tragic event makes him re-analyze his motives and question his abilities. With a newfound responsibility upon his shoulders, some gentle insight from Lewis, and a life-changing discovery, Chris is able to put his life on a path that will bring him fulfillment and happiness.
Though excited that his novel is selling, Sorensen is excited that his newfound success allows him to get out and do what he really loves - speaking to others. Over the past four months Chris has participated in over 50 events, including book signings, book clubs, book festivals, and speaking to elementary school students. I love sharing the message of the story, but I also enjoy sharing my experience as a self-published writer. Anyone who has ever written a story who has perseverance and who truly believes in their work can have a beautifully published book. The technology available today makes it possible, and because it worked for me, I know it can work for others," adds Sorensen.
