NEW CFO APPOINTED AT ROYAL SWETS & ZEITLINGER Royal Swets & Zeitlinger is pleased to announce the appointment of Eelco de Boer as its new Chief Financial Officer. Mr. de Boer began his duties on September 8, 2003. Royal Swets & Zeitlingers Executive Board now consists of: Eric van Amerongen, Steven Hartman and Eelco de Boer. Prior to this, Mr. de Boer has held diverse CFO roles for Sanoma Magazines, VNU and Shell International and notes, I think its incredibly interesting to work for a company that is not only in continuous development, but also constantly adapting as a service provider--and taking advantage of new opportunities arising in the field of e-publishing and e-distribution."
After studying business economics and information management at the University of Groningen in the Netherlands, Mr. de Boer began his career in 1979 at Shell International where he served in various financial management positions for Shell Chemicals, the Nederlandse Aardolie Maatschappij (NAM) and Brunei Shell. Between 1990 and 1999, Mr. de Boer was the finance manager for Shells Exploration and Production Ventures in Burma, Russia, Kazakhstan and Peru. In 1999, he moved to the Dutch media conglomerate, VNU, where he was closely involved in the respective sales of VNUs magazines to Wegener NV and newspaper divisions to Sanoma WSOY, the Finnish communications concern. Between 2001 and 2002, Mr. de Boer guided the financial integration of Sanomas new European magazine division.
