Micki Shirar of Fort Myers Beach Selected as 2005 Ms. Golden America Representative
Ms. Golden America Pageant is the country's first beauty pageant for baby boomers. Pageant will take place on October 29, 2005 at the Harborside Event Center in Fort Myers, Florida.
Naples, FL (PRWEB) April 26, 2005 -- Micki Shirar of Fort Myers Beach has been selected as a representative in the 2005 Ms. Golden America Pageant. Over 300 applicants have applied for the pageant so far and only six women from throughout the country have been selected as representatives. The pageant plans to have 25 women compete for the title on October 29, 2005 at the Harborside Event Center in Fort Myers, Florida.
With the purpose of focusing on the beauty and accomplishments of women baby boomers, Ms. Golden America, Inc. based in Naples, Florida developed this pageant much like the Miss" pageants people have watched for decades. Ms. Golden America is for women age fifty and above and unlike its younger counterparts, there is no swimsuit competition.
Mrs. Shirar, age sixty, is a wife, mother of four and grandmother of seven. She has been a resident of Florida for thirty plus years, residing in Naples and recently moving to Fort Myers Beach. Mrs. Shirar is the District Paralegal for The School District of Collier County. She has also held positions in nursing and director of sales and marketing.
When asked why she wanted to compete in the pageant, Mrs. Shirar replied, I would like to be a participant in the Ms. Golden America Pageant in order to experience yet another adventure of life and set a precedence for my children, grandchildren and other women, that if you believe you can, are not afraid to try, and strive for your dreams, that there is nothing in your lifetime that you cannot aspire to."
Contestants will compete in five areas of competition that include tennis wear, commercial appeal, written essay, the traditional evening gown and on-stage question . Eligibility requirements are United States residency, being at least 50 years of age by October 29, 2005 and of course, being a female. Women may be single, married, divorced or widowed.
Ms. Golden America will win an array of prizes including and diamond solitare necklace and a week for two at New Life Hiking Spa in Vermont.
