Etihad Celebrates Inaugural Flight to Kuala Lumpur

Etihad Airways, the national airline of the UAE, offers non-stop service, six-times a week between Abu Dhabi and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Route serviced by Airbus A340-300 aircraft, which includes 10 Guests in the Diamond zone, 30 Guests in Pearl zone and 225 in the Coral zone.

New York, NY (PRWEB) January 18, 2007 -- Etihad Airways, the national airline of the UAE, has completed its maiden flight from Abu Dhabi to Kuala Lumpur, the first of a six-times a week, non-stop, service between the two capitals.

Following an official ceremony at Abu Dhabi International Airport, Guests of flight EY 405, which included the airline's CEO James Hogan and Malaysian Ambassador to the UAE H.E. Dato' Mubin Razali, departed for Kuala Lumpur (KL).

"This new service is set to become one of Etihad's most popular with Kuala Lumpur an established and highly popular business and leisure travel destination for UAE and Middle-Eastern nationals," said Mr. Hogan.

"Furthermore, Etihad will offer Malaysia-based Guests easy access to key international trading hubs in the Middle East and Europe via Abu Dhabi. This route will have a considerable impact in both corporate and leisure sectors in both countries."

Kuala Lumpur is Etihad Airways' fourth destination in the Asia-Pacific region after Bangkok, Jakarta and Manila. The city will join other recently launched routes including Tehran, New York, Brussels, Casablanca, Dhaka and Johannesburg on Etihad's impressive network.

Since its launch in 2003, Etihad has rapidly expanded its services and fleet size, which has led to the carrier being awarded the prestigious title of "the World's Leading New Airline' for three successive years.

Etihad will operate one of its three-zone Airbus A340-300 aircraft between Abu Dhabi and Kuala Lumpur, which is configured to carry 10 Guests in its Diamond zone, 30 Guests in Pearl zone and 225 in Coral zone.

The service will operate every day of the week except Saturday. Outbound EY 405 will depart Abu Dhabi International Airport (AUH) at 2:40 am, arriving at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KUL) at 2:15 pm. The return flight EY 406 will depart Kuala Lumpur at 3:00 pm, arriving in Abu Dhabi at 6:15 pm. All times are local.
