'Lost Angeles' - World Premiere Comedy at The Lillian Theater in Hollywood, CA

A new comedy from playwright Caroline Treadwell. A gallery of ten Gen Xers confronting being adults and relating to other people and simultaneously trying to make their own marks in the world.

Hollywood, CA (PRWEB) October 26, 2007 -- A few seasons back, producer Joe Camareno delighted audiences and critics with a wonderfully wacky military comedy called "The Unsinkable Bismarck," which enjoyed an extended run and had crowds laughing themselves silly. Now he's back, directing and producing a new comedy that's more realistic in tone but that will nonetheless delight new audiences, with its laughs emerging from the truth rather than the absurdity of its situations.

"Lost Angeles" is that new comedy from playwright Caroline Treadwell. She presents a gallery of ten Gen Xers confronting being adults and relating to other people and simultaneously trying to make their own marks in the world. They include: a scientist who's gotten himself a date with a beautiful woman whom he had been stalking; she, on the other hand, is being pursued by her ex-boyfriend; her female friend is on a date off a My Space profile with someone who turns out to be "the world's hottest lesbian"; this hottie used to be in love with a man…who works at two Los Angeles cultural icons, a premium coffee joint and a Mexican fast-food emporium; there's a man who wants to marry his girlfriend, who wants no part of it; and two recently arrived Mexican immigrants, a caddy and his pregnant sister.

Don't look for Chekhov here. Most of them are in love, but some of them will actually get who they want. This is a very much a romantic comedy for 21st Century Los Angeles.

Writer Caroline Treadwell is the recipient of Master's degrees from Carnegie Mellon University and Moscow Art Theatre. She has numerous credits as a producer, director and actor, many with American Studio Theater, of which she is a founding member, including "A Dream Play," "Measure For Measure," "The Trojan Women," and "Richard III."

Joe Camareno comes from a show-business background; his dad is Mexican pop star Jose Manuel. His previous directing credits include the play "One More Question"; the film "Memoirs," based on his play "Delia's Song"; and 22 episodes of the Parsec Award-winning podcast comedy series "Virgin Falls." His producing credits include "Delia's Song," his play "Exmagare," "Tony Morlando and The New Dawn," "A Weekend Near Madison," "The Firebugs," and more. Also an actor, he has appeared recurringly on the TV series "The Shield" and "Unfabulous."

The cast includes (in alphabetical order): Kristen Ariza, Daniel Billet, Alejandro Cardenas, Sandra Cevallos, Seamus Dever, Adam Donshik, Kevin Hoffer, Porter Kelly, Ruth Livier and Ashleigh Sumner.

Set design: Sheldon Metz. Lighting design: John J. Grant. Costume design : Eloise Petro. Sound design: Morgan McCauley.
