The Iraq War Comes Home in LbP's New Play, "March On, Dream Normal"

Los Angeles theater company Lucid by Proxy presents its 16th World Premiere original play: Jeanette Scherrer's "March On, Dream Normal." With one son suffering from PTSD after his time in Iraq, and another son set to deploy with the National Guard, can the Krupa family overcome the devastating effects of war?

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) April 25, 2008 -- Lucid by Proxy presents the World Premier of Jeanette Scherrer's new play about the affects of the Iraq War on the families of soldiers, "March On, Dream Normal."

ABOUT "MARCH ON, DREAM NORMAL"
Jim has recently returned home to his parents' house in Missouri, but he's haunted by nightmares of what he had to do to survive as a soldier in Iraq, especially one particular, horrifying incident. His father, whose brother served in Vietnam, recognizes the signs of PTSD in his son, but he's unequipped to stop Jim's downward spiral. Meanwhile, the family's other son struggles with the damage he sees in his brother and the prospect that his National Guard unit may be sent to Iraq as well. The beautiful quilts that Jim's mother makes provide some comfort for Jim and his family, but in truth they offer feeble protection against the devastating psychological aftermath of war.

"March On, Dream Normal" is Lucid by Proxy's 16th original, World Premiere production since the group's inception in 2000, and its 8th production in the Paul E. Richards Theater Place in Silverlake. "March On, Dream Normal" is written by Jeanette Scherrer ("Cat Got Your Tongue," "Cotillion," "Jack Cracker, Viking Slave Detective") directed by Patty Ramsey ("String," "Asymmetry," "Multiverse") and Jeanette Scherrer, and features Marie Del Marco, Jack Kandel, Luke Massy, Shannon Nelson, David Nett, Brett Nichols, Skip Pipo and James Paul Xavier.

"March On, Dream Normal" opens Saturday, May 24 (Memorial Day Weekend), and runs through Sunday, June 22 (Friday and Saturday nights at 8:00 p.m., Sunday nights at 7:00 p.m. -- no performance Sunday, June 1) at the Paul E. Richards Theater PLace, 2902 Rowena Ave., Los Angeles 90039. Tickets are $18 (discounts available - call 1-800-838-3006 or visit www.lucidbyproxy.com for reservations -- ticketing by Brown Paper Tickets).
