Oakbrook Terrace, IL (Vocus/PRWEB ) April 28, 2008 —- The CompTIA Educational Foundation announced today it has won the Award of Excellence in the 2008 Associations Advance America awards program, a national competition sponsored by the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) and The Center for Association Leadership in Washington, D.C.

The CompTIA Educational Foundation, a charitable outreach program established by the Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA), received the award for its Creating Futures program. Creating Futures is now in the running to receive a Summit Award, ASAE and The Center’s top recognition for association programs, to be presented in ceremonies at ASAE’s Ninth Annual Summit Awards Dinner at the National Building Museum in Washington, D.C., on September 23, 2008.

Creating Futures provides career development opportunities for individuals who have historically been under-represented in the information technology (IT) industry workforce, including veterans transitioning out of the military; individuals with disabilities; at-risk youth; and dislocated workers. Creating Futures works with employers to identify their hiring needs, then tailors education and training programs to help individuals obtain the technical, business and communications skills employers are looking for.

Now in its 18th year, the prestigious Associations Advance America awards program recognizes associations that propel America forward – with innovative projects in education, skills training, standards-setting, business and social innovation, knowledge creation, citizenship, and community service. Although association activities have a powerful impact on everyday life, they often go unnoticed by the general public.

“The Creating Futures program truly embodies the spirit of the Associations Advance America campaign. It is an honor and an inspiration to showcase this activity as an example of the many contributions associations are making to advance American society,” remarked 2007-2008 Associations Advance America Committee Chair Matthew D’Uva, CAE, president of SOCAP International.
