(PRWEB) July 25, 2008 -- The Performer's Academy, located in Laguna Hills (Woods), California offers programs for children, teens, and adults, in all areas of the performing arts.
So many dreams and aspirations of actors young and old, have been squashed by unscrupulous individuals. Some pose as managers who will help you "bust" into the business only after you fork out money for pictures. Some offer workshops taught by wannabe actors, who never made it in the business themselves.
Owner Natalie Costa knows first hand what it feels like to be duped out of money. When her daughter was five years old, she attended an "audition" and her child was given a callback. She was told that her daughter was one of three individuals selected to come back and re-audition. She was told to bring her check book or credit card because if her daughter was accepted, she would have to enroll her right then and now. The prices for these workshops started at $1275 for a ten-week session and moved onward up to $8900.
She spent thousands of dollars on useless portfolio pictures of this beautiful but shy child. By the time the photos were printed, her daughter lost her front teeth, cut her bangs to the scalp and looked nothing like the photographs that she "had" to have to work in the business. Her manager never did anything to help her career -- as the manager was just there to sell classes and photographs.
She also spent money on workshops. When she stated she couldn't pay the price of the workshops, the "talent director" offered a scholarship at a deeply reduced rate.
The Performer's Academy was created because she knew there was a better way to introduce talent to credible and effective workshops at an affordable price and help the talent and their parents understand the entertainment business.
The academy operates on low-cost month-to-month programs, so you are never locked into long-term pricey contracts. The teaching staff consists of film directors, writers, producers and real working actors. All faculty staff has verifiable resumes on imdb.com (Internet Movie Database), the bible of everyone and anyone who works in the entertainment industry.
The Performer's Academy has a long standing relationship with Screen Actor's Guild agents in Los Angeles that come to this studio on a weekly basis to scout talent.
The staff also consists of parents of children and spouses who work in the entertainment industry today -- in commercials, episodic television, feature film and voice overs. So virtually any question you ever have can be answered competently by any staff member.
The Performer's Academy offers workshops in the following areas: Commercials, Auditioning Techniques, Monologues, Sceen Study, Cold Reading, Comedy (Sketch & Stand-up), Voice Over, Singing, and Musical Theatre.
Drama Director, Jeff Celentano is a film director that just completed directing "Order of Redemption" starring Academy Award Nominee Tom Berenger, Armand Assante, and rapper Busta Rhymes. Jeff is an award winning director that teaches cold reading and scene study classes as well as auditioning techniques.
The Performers Academy also offers All Day Musical Theatre Summer Camp programs -- information which is also on the website.
