With the number of disabled veterans having risen by 25 percent since 2001, Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity, International organizes an event to brighten the day of approximately 450 United States Armed Services Veterans residing in two facilities in Phoenix, Arizona.

Scottsdale, AZ (PRWEB) July 21, 2008 -- On Friday, August 8, 2008, Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity, International will sponsor a community service event at the Doubletree Paradise Valley Resort in Scottsdale, to honor more than 450 disabled veterans residing at the Carl T. Founded in 1902, Phi Alpha Delta is the largest professional legal fraternity in the world, with more than 285,000 members and active chapters at hundreds of law schools and universities. In keeping with its motto of "Service to the Student, the Law School, the Profession and the Community," this event is one of the many public service projects organized by Phi Alpha Delta and its chapters every year.

Stephen J. Savva, the chairman of the event and an International Executive Board Member of Phi Alpha Delta says, "This event, which has been organized by a committee of more than 30 students and attorneys, is a prime example of what our organization was created to do." With the number of disabled veterans rising by more than 25 percent since 2001 -- to approximately 2.9 Million, Mr. Savva believes "this type of event can be successfully organized by groups of any size in communities and the benefit to both the veterans and the volunteers is quite obvious."

The Carl T. Hayden Veterans Medical Center is categorized as a Clinical Referral Level 1 facility, serving veterans in central Arizona including the rapidly expanding metropolitan Phoenix area. The Medical Center provides acute medical, surgical, and psychiatric inpatient care, as well as, rehabilitation medicine, and neurological care. The Arizona State Veteran Home (ASVH) is a new 200 bed licensed and skilled nursing facility also located in Phoenix. It is a State owned and operated facility built to serve the long term needs of the veterans of Arizona. The mission of the Arizona State Veteran Home is to provide professional skilled nursing care for the geriatric and chronically ill veteran and dependent/surviving spouses throughout the State of Arizona.
