(Vocus/PRWEB ) July 22, 2008 -- ATV tours have joined the full slate of adventure activities at the Oak Hill-based adventure resort and are rapidly becoming a guest favorite. Introduced this spring, the fleet of high-performance ATV’s have become a popular add-on for rafters and visitors to the 1400-acre property on the rim of the New River Gorge. The tours join a lineup of options created to meet the thirst for both adventure and exploration in one of the state’s spectacular natural playgrounds.

Riders participate in a three-hour ride that feature single or tandem set-ups and include a full safety orientation. Once acquainted with machine use and outfitted with safety equipment, riders embark on a tour of routes within the ACE trail system traveling through wooded forests, open fields and inspiring rim overlooks. Stops and a bit of history about the Gorge and its inhabitants of the past complete the experience.

All trips are guided and tandem riders must be at least 12 years of age. Program director and ACE Managing Partner, Lee Fuqua, is amazed at the popularity of the activity. “We knew from past demand that activities allowing our guests to explore this unique property were popular, but the response to this program has been surprising. The on-property trail system that meanders over 25-miles was built for multi-use and lends itself well to this program.”

In addition to ATV tours, select ACE trails are available to registered resort guests and designated for hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding and the ATV tours. Fuqua adds, “Our one-day rafters are now staying in our on-property lodging and participating in additional activities as a way to save on travel costs and provide a complete adventure itinerary for their vacation.”
