Toronto's EYE WEEKLY Announces Their Top Five Picks Among International Filminute Festival Entries

Toronto's EYE WEEKLY celebrates annual international one minute film festival, Filminute, and highlights its top five picks among this year's shortlist at eyeweekly.com/filminute.

Toronto, ON (PRWEB) September 13, 2008 -- Toronto's EYE WEEKLY celebrates annual international one minute film festival, Filminute, and highlights its top five picks among this year's shortlist at eyeweekly.com/filminute.

60 Words on 60 Seconds is the collection of reviews penned by EYE's film critic Chandler Levack to celebrate the festival and its format. In addition to reading the review, EYEWEEKLY.com readers can watch the five film picks, leave their own reviews, and learn about each filmmaker. EYE WEEKLY's top five picks among Filminute's shortlisted films are:

'Birthday Present' by Markus Virpio, FINLAND

'Lovefield' by Mathieu Ratthe, CANADA

'Naked Truth' by Robert Sveda, SLOVAKIA

'Rahim Murge Pe Mat Ro' by Devashish Makhija, Rajat Nagpal, INDIA

'The Murder' by Cristian Smeu, ROMANIA

From EYEWEEKLY.com, readers are invited to go to filminute.com to vote for their favourite film among the 25 shortlisted from filmmakers all over the world. EYE WEEKLY's Chandler is impressed with the caliber of the collection of this year's 25 shortlisted films, "The films might be fleeting but their passion's not. The 25 personal narratives are told in an inexorable amount of ways -- a real splice of life. And, the Filminute festival gives the filmmakers their opportunity to provoke political consciousness, loss, a brief stab of jealousy, great humour, and vulnerable imagery that leave an indelible mark."

About Filminute
Filminute is the international one-minute film festival that challenges filmmakers, writers, animators, artists, designers, and creative producers to develop and submit the world's best one-minute films. Filminute draws upon an international jury to deliberate on the merits of 25 shortlisted films. The jury awards the "BEST FILMINUTE" and five commendations. Audiences worldwide rate the films and vote for The People's Choice. From September 1 - 30, audiences worldwide are invited to the 2008 Screening Room to view, rate, and comment on this year's 25. In addition, everyone is entitled to one vote for the People's Choice Award. All Filminute 2008 winners will be announced October 12th, 2008.
