Celebrity Pumpkin Jack O'Lantern Has A Sister Named Heloise
Long regarded as an "only gourd," a song by children's recording duo Robin And The Giant reveals that the famous pumpkin, Jack O'Lantern, has a younger sister named Heloise and she's been in our collective faces, all along, among the many occupants in the Thanksgiving cornucopia.
Ocala, Fla. (PRWEB) October 28, 2008 -- Do some research on the history of Jack O'Lantern and you'll learn that the famous pumpkin associated with Halloween made his debut in 1837. Not much was known about the squash-turned-pumpkin and even less was known about his little sister, Heloise.
Jack, the carved vegetable lantern, became associated specifically with Halloween around 1866. In those days female gourds, as well as other vegetables and even some mammals, were suppressed because of their gender and it was considered inappropriate for the distaff to assume any public persona. Thus, when Jack O'Lantern's sister, Heloise, teamed up with a fledgling group of vegetables in what was to become known as the "Cornucopia Of Love," she bowed her head in prayer in order to obscure her identity.
The Cornucopia Of Love staked their claim to the Thanksgiving holiday and have become as synonymous with that day as the turkey and yet there is no public knowledge that the younger sister of Jack O'Lantern was a member of that illustrious troupe.
Now, children's recording artists Robin And The Giant have released a song that tells the story of Heloise O'Lantern for the first time. The song is simply titled "Heloise O'Lantern" and appears on the Robin And The Giant CD "It's Only Pretend."
In the song, Robin And The Giant lament, "How could it be? How could we miss?
A legendary Mister has a legendary sister." The song sheds light on the little lady of the Thanksgiving Day table that has, for almost two centuries, allowed her brother to shine while she remained obscure. As the song points out, "Heloise was fine with letting Jack shine."
In an undocumented revelation of Heloise O'Lantern's view on the public oversight of her contribution to humanity, Robin And The Giant point out that her profoundly humble acceptance of her obscurity is explained by the attitude that her mission was simply to "sit there by the dressing reminding us of our many, many, many, many blessings."
