New Survey from Nannies4Hire.com: Main Street Families Holding Back and Believe the Presidential Election Holds the Key for the Economy

Main Street families may not have lost a job in the recent economic downturn, but they are holding onto their money just the same and 58% believe the Presidential election on 11/4/08 will make a difference. With 19.6% reporting they are still undecided, Obama leads McCain by only 3.2% . Eight-seven percent of families responding are working and 80% believe they will keep their jobs. Just the same, 79% are putting off big purchases like cars, appliances or computers, 67% are going out to eat less and 33% are canceling travel. Nannies are still a necessity with only 11% of families cutting hours.

Omaha, Neb. (PRWEB) November 3, 2008 -- Nannies4hire.com, the premier nanny and babysitter registry database service polled over 39,000 of its families on the impact of the recent financial crisis on their lives. With a 2.5% return, even though they have not lost a job, the crisis has created a belt tightening effect on families' lifestyles, although nannies and babysitters are the last to go. When asked where they are making cutbacks, most respondents are cutting back on the conveniences and holding onto the necessities, like childcare in their home.

"In times of economic uncertainty, families need their nannies and babysitters more than ever. As our survey shows, less eating out (79%), less conveniences like take-out meals (60%) means more meals cooked inside the home. That's were a nanny can help a family stay healthy and connected by pitching in," Candi Wingate, owner of Nannies4Hire.com and Babysitters4Hire.com reports.

One of the casualties of the economic crisis could be the relationships between the husband and wife. Less time away from the kids and giving up date night to save babysitting hours were reported as having an impact on intimacy by some respondents.

Nannies4Hire.com and Babysitters4Hire.com provide a searchable, geographic database that allows families and caregivers to find the right match for their family. A leader in childcare since 1987, over 500,000 families and caregivers have been registered in their database in the United States and Canada. A recognized expert in the field and just named as a finalist in the Stevie Awards Women helping Women category, Nannies4Hire.com works with the Dr. Phil Show, ABC's Supernanny, and TLC's John and Kate Plus 8.
