NewspaperARCHIVE.com Launches La Marque Public Library Newspaper Archive

The La Marque Public Library and Heritage Microfilm announce the online release of the historic La Marque Times digital newspaper archive.

Cedar Rapids, Iowa (PRWEB) January 2, 2009 -- The La Marque Public Library, located in La Marque, Texas, has partnered with Cedar Rapids-based Heritage Microfilm to digitize and make available the historic newspaper archives of the La Marque Times for library patrons. This partnership gives library users access to years of previously unavailable historic newspaper content.

"The La Marque Public Library has been wishing to have our newspaper digitized for quite awhile," said Kathleen Nixie, Library Director for La Marque Public Library. "We are excited that we can now offer this unique piece of La Marque history for our patrons."

The digital images were created from microfilm of the newspaper. Heritage Microfilm performed the microfilming of the La Marque Times in addition to the digital services. The digital archives consist of images of the newspaper as it was published, and includes all issues from 1970 to 1998.

The La Marque Digital Archive, consisting of the La Marque Times, can be found at http://lamarque.newspaperarchive.com and is available at no charge.

"I am happy that we were able to bring the amazing technology of NewspaperArchive.com and the unique newspapers of La Marque together to create a rich historic newspaper database," said Larry Eckhardt, Account Manager for Heritage Microfilm.

Libraries, historical societies and educational institutions interested in digitizing historical Newspaper content should contact Larry Eckhardt at 888-870-0484 ext. 18.
