Oil and Gas Industry Leader Selects LCI-90 Tension and Payout Monitoring Solution

Measurement Technology NW (MTNW) was recently awarded the contract to provide an 8-point tension and payout monitoring system for the National Petroleum Construction Company (NPCC) in Abu Dhabi, U.A.E. Measurement Technology NW was selected for this project due to their unique expertise in line and chain tension monitoring as well as their full line of monitors, tensiometers, and data-logging software products that directly address the needs of the oil and gas industry.

Seattle, WA (PRWEB) January 8, 2009 -- Measurement Technology NW (MTNW) was recently awarded the contract to provide an 8-point tension and payout monitoring system for the National Petroleum Construction Company (NPCC) in Abu Dhabi, U.A.E.

Designed for NPCC's SEP-350 (Self Elevating Platform) vessel, the new running line tensiometer and LCI-90 "Dual Winch" (http://www.mtnw-usa.com/linesystems/) display system replaces an old 4-point mooring installation that no longer met the company's stringent performance standards. Seattle, Washington USA based Measurement Technology NW was selected for this project due to their unique expertise in line and chain tension monitoring as well as their full line of monitors, tensiometers, and data-logging software products that directly address the needs of the oil and gas industry.

"We were very excited to have been selected by NPCC, and are pleased with the growing adoption our products have seen from the oil and gas industry," said, Tomas Rezanka, Director of Line Control Instruments for MTNW. LCI-90 Dual Winch displays are also being being used by Petrobras, of Brazil.

Engineered to suit offshore mooring applications, LCI-90 "Dual Winch" displays were developed to monitor line tension, payout, and speed on two winches, RLT's, or windlasses - simultaneously. Two tensiometers were installed at each of the vessel's four double-drum winch locations, and each pair of RLT's feeds into one "Dual Winch" LCI-90 display that is in-turn linked to a PC computer running MTNW's WinchDAC data-logging software (http://www.mtnw-usa.com/linesystems/line-control-software.php).

The LCI-90 "Dual-Winch" displays are the newest member of the LCI product line. All models include a crisp, bright, high-contrast electroluminescent screen for exceptional viewing clarity in all light conditions. Five fully-sealed pushbuttons within a heavy-duty 316 stainless steel front panel access an easy-to-follow English language menu for field calibration changes, I/O channel configuration, alarm and network settings, and screen layout - all intuitive and right at your fingertips. Four I/O channels and serial networking capability provide unmatched flexibility in line monitoring, weighing, or SCADA applications.

The compact running line tensiometers provided by MTNW feature a rugged alloy steel frame with marine grade coating, 316 stainless steel fasteners, pins, and shafts, plus 4140 alloy steel sheaves with sealed bearings. The eight running line tensiometers at the heart of NPCC's new mooring instrumentation system are the popular RL-20175K model, optimized for 1.5" wire rope and equipped with dual proximity sensors and 175 KIPS stainless steel load pin housed in a removable center sheave.

The Measurement Technology NW website (www.mtnw-usa.com), contains several case studies of various installations and applications that help illustrate the wide-ranging capabilities of the LCI-90 line control systems.
