Special Performance By The Texas A&M University Fightin' Texas Aggie Band On March 7 At Kyle Field

The Fightin' Texas Aggie Band will hold a special performance during the 75th convention of the American Bandmasters Association on Saturday, March 7. The concert schedule includes performances by the Bowie High School Wind Ensemble from Austin, the Texas A&M University Wind Symphony, the TCU Wind Symphony, the University of Texas Wind Ensemble and the United States Navy Band.

College Station, Texas (PRWEB) March 4, 2009 -- The Fightin' Texas Aggie Band will conclude a concert schedule on the campus of Texas A&M University, performing for the 75th convention of the American Bandmasters Association (ABA).

For the convention Mar. 4 - 8, to be held for the first time at Texas A&M, the ABA has invited outstanding bands from throughout the State of Texas as well as the United States Navy Band to perform in Rudder Auditorium. While the conference itself is open to ABA members only, the public is invited to attend a series of concerts, culminating in the Kyle Field performance. All concerts are free and open to the general public.

Advanced complimentary tickets for the Rudder performances are available through the MSC Box Office (979-845-1234). Doors will open to those with tickets 30 minutes prior to the performance time with general admission for those without tickets beginning 10 minutes prior.

The concert schedule includes:

Wednesday, Mar. 4, 2009, 8 p.m.
The Austin Bowie High School Wind Ensemble, Bruce Dinkins, Conductor
The Texas A&M University Wind Symphony, Timothy Rhea, Conductor

Thursday, Mar. 5, 2009, 8 p.m.
The TCU Wind Symphony, Bobby Francis, Conductor
The University of Texas Wind Ensemble, Jerry Junkin, Conductor

Friday, Mar. 6, 2009, 8 p.m.
The United States Navy Band, Washington D.C.
Capt. George Thompson, Conductor

In addition to these outstanding concert bands, there will be a special performance of the Fightin' Texas Aggie Band on Saturday, Mar. 7, at 2 p.m. in Kyle Field. Because of the unique nature of this performance--marching bands do not traditionally perform at ABA conventions--the show will be twice as long as a normal halftime show. The ABA has requested the performance based on the Aggie Band's tradition of excellence and national reputation.

The performance is free and open to the general public with seating on the west side of the stadium. Gates will open at 1:30 pm. No tickets are required for this event.
