Ivey Electric Company has weathered the test of time providing commercial and industrial electrical services to clients spanning six states throughout its 50 years history.

"It's tough in these economic times," says James Ivey, founder, still active in the everyday operation at Ivey's impressive million dollar facility located in Spartanburg, South Carolina.

Ivey, who fits the image of a "True Southern Gentleman" has a riveting story about the rise of his establishment "We had over 300 workers at one time doing work for almost every textile operation in six states" Ivey, who has been a Licensed Professional Engineer in South Carolina since 1948, has seen those clients move overseas or fail, one by one for several decades. I'm not sure we'll ever be what we once was," Ivey adds.

The slowing half century old business may now be on a fast track to recovery with the ability to provide new services to its existing clients. Ivey is utilizing the engineering services of Sullivan Indiana based Industrial Training University Inc. to offer OSHA required "Arc Flash Analysis" based on the National Fire Protections Associations (NFPA 70E) electrical safety requirements. Most facilities are required to have an arc flash analysis conducted to help protect workers from being burned from electrical related injuries.

"ITU will be assisting Ivey Electric with our P3 program. We perform low cost Arc Flash assessments on facilities across the United States," says Dave Carpenter, President of ITU "We are excited about adding Ivey Electric to our family of people who we assist with these engineering efforts. James Ivey has a fantastic group of electricians, and that, combined with our engineering group will make a great team!"

ITU, just less than a decade old, is an engineering and training firm that provides a host of services. "Our greatest testimony is our satisfied customers. We've helped companies work safer, stay in compliance, and be more productive at what they do… That's what ITU is all about," says Ed Teepe, Marketing Director. ITU has clients such as General Electric, Menards, Coca-Cola, Toyota, and Johnson & Johnson just to name a few. Teepe added that Ivey Electrics commitment to a safe and effective workplace earned the company ITU's Service Excellence award in April. One of the first projects these companies will co-mingle is a group of ten rock quarries in the Southeast.
