Shakespeare's Tempest Storms Ashore Richard Garriott's Lake Austin Property

Austin's world renowned Baron's Men will be performing Shakespeare's masterpiece "The Tempest" on the grassy shores of Lake Austin May 1st - 3rd and May 8th - 10th.

Austin, Texas (PRWEB) May 1, 2009 -- Austin-based Shakespearean Troupe, The Baron's Men are set to perform "The Tempest" at video game mogul and recent space traveler Richard Garriott's lush Lake Austin property. The shows will be performed May 1st - 3rd and May 8th - 10th at 7:30pm.

Although famous for the venue in which they normally perform- Garriott's replica Elizabethan playhouse, The Curtain Theater- the troupe will be playing under the stars on the same property in a groomed meadow ringed with ancient pecan trees and towering oaks, befitting the magic and mystical mood of the play. Maps and ticketing information can be found at http://www.nowplayingaustin.com/event/detail/440119163 or at the Baron's Men home page, http://www.thebaronsmen.org/ .

The show, filled with mystical sprites, wizardry, love lost, and love won, showcases the creative direction of veteran Baron's Men member Athena Peters as evidenced by a full sized ship and conjuror's lair. The complex set was generously built courtesy of Mr. Garriott's patronage. Attendees are encouraged to bring a blanket, cushions, or chairs due to the picnic-style nature of the presentation. Refreshments can be brought to the performance so long as all refuse is policed by the playgoer.

For additional information, about the venue, directions, performance times, or ticketing, please contact The Baron's Men, Monday- Saturday 9am-5pm, at: 512-228-8339.

About the Baron's Men:
The Baron's Men, founded in 2000, focus on history as much as they focus on theater. Their values include a core goal of striving to produce Renaissance plays in a period fashion and style including bawdy humor and costume appropriate to Shakespeare's time. Torches supply the majority of light for the plays, and the small amount of electrical lighting used is discreet. Backed by the patronage of Richard Garriott they perform two shows per year in his playhouse, The Curtain Theater, located in Austin, Texas on the north shore of Lake Austin.
