Santa Monica, CA (PRWEB) May 9, 2009 -- The Santa Monica Pier Centennial Celebration continues with the largest gathering of circus artists, vaudevillians, contortionists, aerialists, jugglers, acrobats and performance artists seen on the Pier in a hundred years.
Sideshow at the Pier is an irreverent homage to the Pier's midway spirit, and is jam packed with high energy hijinks, and extreme skills in a free show Saturday May 16 from 2pm-8pm on the world famous Santa Monica Pier.
Come see Mat Plendl the world's greatest hula-hoop artist, or watch Scot Nery do his acclaimed pancake-juggling act while popular busker Masonius Max executes body-bending contortions. Former two-time world champions in acrobatic gymnastics Realis perform intricate hand to hand balancing, and the Silk Sisters mesmerize with their aerial artistry. Comic juggler extraordinaire Frank Olivier, magician Rudy Coby, and dozens of other uniquely skilled performers act up during Sideshow at the Pier. Our MC/Ringmaster Philip Solomon keeps the zaniness going with a little help from the Stilt Circus and our Funhouse Band
The event is free to the public and runs from 2pm-8pm on the Pier parking deck. For more information, please visit www.santamonicapier.org. Program and artists are subject to change. The Santa Monica Pier Centennial is sponsored by: KOOZA/Cirque du Soleil, Preserve America, Time Warner Cable, Big Blue Bus, the City of Santa Monica, Santa Monica Convention & Visitors Bureau, and Pacific Park.
