The winner will receive €250.
Barcelona, Spain (PRWEB) May 16, 2009 -- Online education website runs unique competition to IELTS candidates worldwide.
iPass is an online self-study website aimed at students preparing for Academic IELTS (International English Language Testing System), the world's leading English test.
People from all over the world take IELTS for a number of reasons; immigration purposes, higher education and professional training and registration.
University entrance in an English-speaking country is a major motivating factor for the majority of candidates who register for Academic Training. A score of 6.5 is generally required for a standard degree course, whereas 7.0 or 7.5 may be needed for more academic or specific subjects such as medicine or dentistry. More information about the band score system can be found on the official IELTS website http://www.ielts.org
iPass, which has been providing online practice material and tuition to IELTS candidates since February 2008, is currently offering €250 anyone who has achieved a 7.5 in each module of the exam (reading, listening, writing and speaking) so far in 2009. Since the average score for female candidates in 2008 was 5.89 and for male candidates 5.71, this is by no means an easy task.
Competition entrants also have to state how they think IELTS will make a difference to their lives, both professionally and personally. "We understand that taking this exam is a crucial part in the process for many people to further their careers and job prospects," says Nigel Haines, co-founder of iPass. "We thought running this competition would highlight the effort that is put in by candidates worldwide aiming for high level band scores."
With over 6,000 institutions across 120 countries now recognizing IELTS as an official benchmark of English proficiency it has become a global leader in language testing. Having attracted over 4,500 members since its launch last year, iPass hopes to deliver and extend its services to a higher proportion of the 1.2 million annual test-takers worldwide. "We believe there is a high demand for quality online tuition to help candidates successfully prepare for IELTS and that is what we're aiming to provide" says Nigel. The closing date for the competition is 30 June 2009.
