Westchester Chordsmen Go to the Movies

The award-winning Westchester Chordsmen Chorus and special guests Our Town quartet will host two performances of "Keeping Score at the Movies," an a cappella journey through music used in classic American film.

White Plains, N.Y. (PRWEB) June 3, 2009 -- The award-winning Westchester Chordsmen Chorus and special guests Our Town quartet will host two performances of Keeping Score at the Movies, an a cappella journey through music used in classic American film.

With the summer movie season upon us, Chordsmen fans new and old will their favorite movie soundtracks like they've never heard them before: "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" from The Wizard of Oz; "Speak Softly Love" from The Godfather; "Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head" theme from The Magnificent Seven; "Lara's Theme" from Dr. Zhivago, and more.

With musical direction by noted vocalist Keith Harris, other acclaimed quartets on the bill include Our Town, RSVP and The Salty Dogs. Along with these veteran performers, members of the Westchester Chordsmen Learn To Sing program will be taking the stage for the first time.

"It's going to be a great night of songs you know and love from all the movies everyone has grown up watching, interpreted in new ways," says John Fotia, long-time Chordsmen member and writer of the show. "And for the younger generations of movie and music lovers, it's a chance to discover the classics and make them new again."

Keeping Score at the Movies, directed by Keith Harris and written by John Fotia, will be performed on Friday and Saturday, June 12 and 13 at White Plains Middle School (128 Grandview Avenue, White Plains, N.Y). Performance times are 7:30 p.m. on Friday, and 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Ticket prices start at $20. Group, senior and student rates are available. Contact 800-413-7153 or 914-523-6364 or visit www.chordsmen.org for more information.
