Executive Shares His Story in an Effort to Save Lives

A successful entrepeneur, living a life many only dream about, has his world shattered with the diagnosis of a rare malignant bone cancer after undergoing an executive physical. After a successful surgery, which gave him a new lease on life, he hopes his moving video testimony will prompt other executives and busy individuals to get a thorough physical exam.

Dallas, TX (PRWEB) June 16, 2009 -- At age 44, Matt F. experienced first hand the importance of a thorough physical exam. Mark Anderson, MD is this executive's physician and explains, "If he would have had a physical based on what insurance covers, he may not be here today. This patient had zero symptoms that would justify an insurance company to pay for the test that saved his life. The irony is that symptoms are sometimes an indicator that it is too late. "

Executive exams are becoming more popular as companies and individuals recognize the pitfalls of the insurance covered physical. Walter Gaman, MD of Executive Medicine of Texas states, "We see patients from all over who have had an exam with their regular doctor and important health issues were missed. These are good doctors but, at the expectations of the patient, they basically check what insurance companies will pay for. Patients forget that insurance companies are not doctors and are looking to save money not necessarily lives."

Part of the extensive executive physical Matt went through included a virtual colonoscopy. While his colon was unremarkable, the Cat Scan (CT) portion of the test identified a rare malignant bone cancer tumor called a sacral chordoma. Symptoms for this type of cancer usually appear in more advanced stages, in many cases when it may be too late to effectively remove the tumor. In an effort to encourage others, Matt explains, "In my case, I was very fortunate to have caught it early enough. In a matter of weeks I was diagnosed, the tumor was removed and I had recovered enough to be back on the golf course. I know that in life timing is everything and this executive physical saved my life."

This story is one of many that have become part of Executive Medicine of Texas' marketing campaign. In an effort to help persuade others to take steps that can help save their lives, executives are putting their stories out there. Matt's video testimony can be seen at www.emtexas.com. Jenn Adair warns, "This is a very moving testimony to watch. I have seen first hand how Matt has already impacted a number of lives through his experience."

Executive Medicine of Texas (EMTX) specializes in executives and high profile individuals. Through confidential extensive physical exams and ongoing care, they have helped countless patients live healthier lives. Dr. Anderson and Dr. Gaman founded EMTX and are co-authors of the books Executive Medicine: Optimizing Your Chances for a Longer Life (IBSN: 1933290897) and Stay Young: Beating the Odds in a Busy World which is due out late this summer.
