Energy & Security are Pakistan's Top Challenges -- Black Watch Online Symposium

Black Watch is convening a web symposium on July 21, 2009, entitled "Top Challenges for Pakistan: Energy & Security" addressing Pakistan's strategy to tackle issues ranging from terrorism, crime, and social unrest to development, renewable & green energy, and investment opportunities and risk.

Washington, D.C. (PRWEB) June 18, 2009 -- Pakistan is beset with persistent terrorism and security challenges from militants like the Taliban and insufficient energy supplies to a national economy that has grown over 6% per annum since 2004. How the Pakistani government tackles these converging challenges has direct implications for US and European interests. While these risks have caused some to divest, those who have a prudent risk management strategy and strong understanding of Pakistan may find lucrative investment opportunities.

The political risk consultancy Black Watch Global is convening a web symposium on July 21, 2009, entitled "Top Challenges for Pakistan: Energy & Security" addressing Pakistan's strategy to tackle these challenges. Providing an assessment of the government's ability to contain critical terrorism and security threats and secure sufficient energy--focusing on power supplies through hydroelectric and green energy projects--this symposium will provide investment strategists with actionable investment and divestment analysis.

The interactive symposium will convene experts from government and industry addressing:

  • Terrorism, politics, and country risk: Forecasting future political and security risks to investors based on an analysis of current trends;
  • Safe markets in Pakistan: Project-level analysis of safe and marketable areas of operation within the country to avoid crime, terrorism, and social unrest;
  • Pakistan's Energy Strategy: Examining Pakistan's energy security strategy--including oil & gas, nuclear, hydroelectric, and green energy potential;
  • Regional Geo-Politics: Pakistan's role in the region with Turkey, China, India, Iran, and Afghanistan; and
  • Company case studies: Assessments of Pakistani and foreign power companies investing in Pakistan's hydroelectric, green energy, and coal fire power projects.

Registration
The symposium will be held on July 21, 2009, at 10:00 New York / 15:00 London / 20:00 Karachi. Further information and registration is available at www.blackwatchglobal.com/symposiums.htm. The latest conference information, including agenda and speaker updates, is available at the event website. Members of the media are welcome to attend.
