BACnet International and BACnet Interest Group Europe Sign Cooperative Testing and Listing Agreement: Transatlantic Agreement To Unify BTL Listings
BACnet International and the BACnet User Group Europe (BIG-EU) today announced that they have agreed to combine their BTL listings to create a single global listing of BACnet tested products to be hosted on BACnet International's Web site beginning on July 1st, 2009. The product listing site will be located at: http://www.bacnetinternational.org/btl/.
The new agreement also allows both groups to conjointly shape the test specifications for BTL testing and listing.
Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) July 6, 2009 -- BACnet International and the BACnet User Group Europe (BIG-EU) today announced that they have agreed to combine their BTL listings to create a single global listing of BACnet tested products to be hosted on BACnet International's Web site beginning on July 1st, 2009. The new agreement also allows both groups to conjointly shape the test specifications for BTL testing and listing.
Because of additional European governmental directives and requirements, the BIG-EU will still work with European-based companies on the BACnet certification process and will list those certifications on their Web site. In addition, the BIG-EU will maintain the open product catalog of BACnet-based products -- whether or not they have been tested, BTL listed, or certified - and include a data sheet for each. "Because BACnet has become the preferred choice for integrating building systems, controlling energy costs, and future-proofing commercial and institutional facilities, it is important for the certification process to be common across all countries," said Volker Röhl, BIG-EU president. Mr. Röhl continued, "Our organization has been working very well with BACnet International for a number of years under the previous agreement and the new agreement will undoubtedly strengthen our relationship as well as improve the value of the BACnet protocol."
Beginning on July 1, 2009, BACnet International will coordinate the registered BACnet Testing Laboratory (BTL), which will manage the testing and listing process and will grant the right to use the BTL logo. Product vendors do not have to be sponsors of BACnet International to have their products tested and listed but sponsors receive substantial discounts on listing fees. Andy McMillan, President of BACnet International and President/CEO of Teletrol Systems commented on the significance of the announcement, "the agreement on cooperative listing will greatly improve the impact of the BTL logo and assure its continued success around the world."
