Catan – The First Island is true to the original Settlers of Catan board game and has plenty of gameplay options, including the ability to adjust the number of Victory Points needed to win the game – so you can finish more quickly when you’re short on time.
There is hardly a board game award that the Settlers of Catan game has not won. The classic Catan game, loved worldwide, has been translated into 30 languages in the last 14 years, and its popularity continues to expand. Catan for iPhone is one more way the Catan community is reaching out to existing fans and new players around the globe.
For those who have never played, it’s not too late to learn. Catan for iPhone offers excellent built-in tutorials for beginners. Quick-moving strategy revolves around the settlement of an island. Compete with 2-3 friends or AI players for the most settlements, the longest roads, and the largest army. You can trade with each other and conquer the coveted lands with all its resources to try to become the Lord of Catan.
Three or four players are needed to play the board game, but with the iPhone version you can assign as many AI opponents as you want. Each of the AI characters has individual characteristics and strategies, and they will prove themselves worthy opponents. They are: Pirate Jean, who knows no compromise; Vincent the Merchant, who never allows himself to be cheated or defeated; and Siegfried the Knight, who takes what is rightfully his... but takes no prisoners!
