Sewell's New Minideck Adds Screen Space, Increases Productivity

Orem, UT (PRWEB) November 1, 2009 -- Sewell's Minideck (http://sewelldirect.com/Sewell-Minideck-USB-to-DVI-Display-Adapter.asp) is a brand new way of connecting multiple monitors to a computer. Minideck simply turns your USB port into an auxiliary monitor port, or full 1080p HDTV video port, giving you VGA, DVI, and HDMI video connection options.

Minideck is a small video processing unit that uses a new technology based on DisplayLink's patented USB to DVI chip. This latest revision allows users to drive monitors as big as 24 inches in their native resolutions (1920x1200) through a single USB port. Minideck is also the most cost effective way for users of laptops, iMacs, and Mac Minis to add additional screen real estate once the auxiliary video port is taken.

"We see the majority of our sales of this kind of product to large corporations that are attempting to update their workstations without sacrificing flexibility," says Preston Wily, President of Sewell. "Computers get old and replaced, companies switch between PC and Mac, operating systems get updated, but the Minideck will always work the same."

A study released earlier this year by Fraunhofer Institute for Industrial Engineering via Computer Weekly (ComputerWeekly.com) measured productivity to increase by 35.5% when 3 monitors are used as one (known as extended desktop mode). A user is capable of connecting up to six Minidecks via six USB ports to add up to six monitors in extended desktop mode, or in mirror mode.

Greg Vandagriff, manager of Sewell Direct's sales division works directly with large companies that have been updating their workstations with multiple monitors using this technology and he notes that "many of (Sewell Direct's) customers seem to appreciate the ease of setup." He also notes that "a substantial amount of our users simply are switching from desktop to laptop and just don't want to sacrifice the screen real estate and productivity they enjoyed before."

Sewell's Minideck is slated to start shipping out on November 16th and is available immediately for pre-order at SewellDirect.com.
