Miami Gardens, FL (PRWEB) November 1, 2009 -- Autumn brings with it the annual Industrial Fabrics Association International (IFAI) trade show. For over 20 years, RetractableAwnings.com has attended the event, the premier fabrics and awning trade show in the world. This year, the RetractableAwnings.com delegation traveled to San Diego, Calif., to check out the latest innovations in retractable awning and fabric design.
From September 22 through 25, thousands of companies, agents, and designers associated with the industrial fabrics industry converged in southern California to see vendors and attend workshops hosted by the IFAI and its child organizations, such as the Professional Awning Manufacturers Association (PAMA).
Representatives from RetractableAwnings.com have attended the trade show every year since the company began in 1986. According to Eric Scop, vice president of sales and marketing for RetractableAwnings.com, staying aware of the most contemporary designs is a critical element for offering high-quality retractable awnings - and the IFAI show is one of the few places to see that latest and greatest for the retractable awning industry. "It's really important to see what's going on," he explained. "Attending the show annually is critical."
The most important feature that Scop says emerged from this event was a renewed opportunity for corner-shaped and round retractable awnings, a custom-fitting style that is impossible for standard rectangular or square lateral arm awnings to imitate. This is a design that first came onto RetractableAwnings.com's radar about five years ago. This new and unique model will be available through them in 2010.
This year's event was smaller and more reserved than the peak participation at the Charlotte, NC, in October 2008. Still, almost 6200 registrants came from over 60 countries and 2800 companies. Nearly 350 vendors were there, offering a glimpse of the latest features coming off the manufacturing floors for 2010.
The green shoots in this down economy was the theme of the IFAI presentations, with CNBC senior analyst Ron Insana offering glimmers of hope about the economy next year. Other groups covered emerging favorite topics like green and sustainable design.
While IFAI and PAMA both offered several workshops, Scop said that the focus of RetactableAwnings.com remained on scouting out new features and suppliers to add to their product line. "Our time is better spent walking the floors and meeting the vendors," he explained. "That's really the key."
