Low Quality Optics in Binocular Loupes May Cause Damage to Eyes

Good quality optics are the key to reaping health benefits from wearing and using binocular loupes.

Mississauga, ON (PRWEB) November 2, 2009 -- Recent study shows, as many as 75% dentist who found wearing binocular loupe un-comfortable and stopped using them, they stopped as a result of having low quality optics in their loupes.

Most manufacturers and buyers of binocular loupes stress upon magnification power of loupe yet it is the resolution of optics which defines the clarity of image. Fuzzy and unclear image puts extra strain on wearer’s eyes and may cause permanent eye damage.

If the optics are not free from color aberration and spherical aberration and does not produce an edge to edge flat and clear image then they are not good quality optics. Such loupes should not be purchased
“If the optics are not free from color aberration and spherical aberration and does not produce an edge to edge flat and clear image then they are not good quality optics. Such loupes should not be purchased”, says Mr Joe Pal from ACTS Medical, manufacturer of STAC binocular loupes, “in simple terms, if one sees bluish shades at the end of image, the optic suffers from color aberration and if edge of image look far and fuzzy, it is spherical aberration and finally optics suffering from higher magnification with low resolution will produce fuzzy image and low depth of field.”

With the increased awareness of using binocular loupes in dental industry, the market has been flooded with binocular loupe manufacturers. The price range starts from as low as $200 and goes as high as $1500. “Optics is still a major cost component of any binocular loupe, generally Low price unbranded loupes carry low quality optics”, says Mr Joe Pal from ACTS medical, “STAC loupes use microscopic lenses producing high resolution flat images free from color and spherical aberration”.

Zeiss, Heine, DFV and STAC are some of the known brand names producing binocular loupes with good quality optics. As the market is expanding, manufacturers are able to reduce the prices of their high quality loupes. A starter loupe of 2.5x magnification which was available at below $900 price range two year ago is now being offered at below $500 price range.

A binocular loupe with microscopic grade optics got numerous health benefits and may expand professional life of most of dentists, hygienists and surgeons. The key is to start using binocular loupe as early as start of student life. Today one can find many options to buy a good quality binocular loupe at budget price.

“You do not need to buy low quality low price loupes and enhance the risk of causing harm to your eyes” says John Ballie from BinoLoupe.com, “A student can easily get a good quality loupe at an affordable price under our Student Discount program. We are also offering demo models at deep discounted prices under our Binovantage Program. It is a good place to find a high quality loupe at bargain price.”
