Home magazines are on the rise, with 167% growth from 105 to 280 magazines over the last five years, according to the 2010 edition of The National Directory of Magazines released today. The National Directory of Magazines, published by Oxbridge Communications, is the largest directory of U.S. and Canadian magazines.

New York, N.Y. Nursing and real estate magazines have also experienced significant growth over the last five years. Nursing magazines grew from 105 to 187 publications. At the same time, real estate publications nearly doubled from190 to 324. Over the last five years, the largest declines are in computer publications, decreasing 31%, from 485 to 381 today, and comics down 26%, from 269 to 199.

"The number of home magazines continued to grow over the five-year period despite the loss this year of magazines such as Country Home," said Trish Hagood, president of Oxbridge Communications and MediaFinder.com, publishers of The National Directory of Magazines. "The nursing category also grew despite the loss of RN magazine. Both categories showed slight gains over last year, while the real estate category, which grew over the five-year period, declined since last year by 12 publications."
