Canton, CT (PRWEB) November 5, 2009 -- Songfacts.com recently interviewed the now 50-year-old Bryan Adams to get the stories behind his biggest hits. A database of song information, Songfacts has done extensive interviews with many of the world's great songwriters and performers, who talk about their songs and their craft. Adams, who writes his own songs, has excelled with four #1 hits, including the iconic "(Everything I Do) I Do It For You" and the classic "Heaven," which found a new audience when it was remade in a 2002 dance version. When asked which songs he's most proud of, Adams replied:

"The really early ones. They were part of the learning experience to be able to write the songs that everyone knows now. You need to learn to crawl before you walk."

This includes songs like "Straight From The Heart," "Cuts Like A Knife" and "Run To You," as well as his classic "Summer of '69," which is one of the more misinterpreted songs out there. You see, Adams was just 9 years old in the Summer of 1969, so it's not really about the year. According to Adams, "The '69 was a metaphor for making love."

Adams was a regular in the early years of MTV, and along with other video stars like Prince and Madonna, is still going strong. Talking about his videos, Adams explains: "I once worked with a director who said to me, 'If it's not unusual why do it?' Nowadays, I think the best videos are the live ones, as they truly showed what was going on with the artist and the song." Which is his favorite video? It's the saucy "The Only Thing That Looks Good On Me Is You."

Adams has written songs for Joe Cocker, Aretha Franklin, Neil Diamond and Mary J. Blige, but there's one artist who made a huge impression early on: Tina Turner. Said Adams: "I used to go to see her in the clubs when I was in my late teens/early 20's before she hit the big time. Amazingly when we toured together years later, I never saw Tina walk through a performance, she always put on a great show, and was gracious and grateful to her audience. It was such a privilege to have sung with her, especially since I was only 24 at the time."

Songfacts went online in 1999 as a resource for disc jockeys. After being named a Yahoo! Pick in 2002, the site exploded in popularity and now gets over 1 million visits every month. Songfacts has interviewed well over 100 outstanding songwriters, including Bill Withers, Ian Anderson, Brad Arnold (3 Doors Down), Emily Saliers (Indigo Girls), Jo Dee Messina, Marc Roberge (O.A.R.), Janis Ian and Billy Steinberg ("Like A Virgin," "True Colors"). USA Weekend called Songfacts "A Virtual Behind The Music."
