Eventually Jack's reappearance allows him to share his finding with a professor, and he describes how he has been able to return to the present through the same type of portal. The complication exists in Nancy's unhappiness at Richard's distance prompts her to accept Jack's invitation to return to their past, leaving an angry and bitter Richard behind, even as the professor and Bill ponder the ultimate destination of their two friends.
