College to Donate Season Tickets to Local Charities

CDI kicks off the season by wrapping up Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign

Winnipeg, MB (Vocus/PRWEB ) October 29, 2009 -- CDI College in Winnipeg will wrap up Breast Cancer Awareness Month by attending the Manitoba Moose’s Ladies’ Night on October 30, 2009. The night will also officially kick off a season-long ticket giveaway initiative by the college.

According to CDI Director Tahl East, the new ticket giveaway grew out of the college’s “Pink Day” breast cancer awareness fundraiser on October 1, 2009. Students and staff decked themselves out in pink and decorated the entire campus in rose-coloured streamers, balloons and signage. In just a matter of hours, the campus raised hundreds of dollars in donations to the breast cancer foundation (pictures of the event are available at http://www.facebook.com/CDICollege).

“The next day a Manitoba Moose account executive drove past our building on his way to work, saw the building all in pink and called me,” says East. “The rest is history.”

As a result, the campus was invited to attend Ladies’ Night and the college purchased season tickets to all of the team’s home games. To continue with their community involvement, CDI decided to donate tickets to various local charities throughout the season, including MacDonald Youth Services, Children's Hospital, Ronald McDonald House, Knowles Centre and Winnipeg Harvest. Each charitable group will receive several pairs to their designated game.

“Community involvement and giving back is part of education,” says East. “As a college, we want our graduates to be more than just academically ready; we want them to be ready as people. Humanity is bigger than any diploma, but together they are unbeatable.”

In addition to the ticket giveaway, CDI College will also have a “Pink Booth” as part of Ladies Night at the MTS Centre. To learn more about their programs and other community initiatives across the country, visit http://www.cdicollege.ca.
