Ingram Micro Makes Generous Donation to CompTIA Educational Foundation's Creating Futures Program

Computer equipment donation will help fund IT career training programs

Oakbrook Terrace, Ill. (Vocus/PRWEB ) October 21, 2008 -- The Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA) Educational Foundation announced today that is has a received a donation of $10,000 worth of computer equipment from Ingram Micro Inc., the world's largest technology distributor, to be used in the foundation's Creating Futures Bids 4 Futures online auction.

The CompTIA Educational Foundation's Creating Futures program began Bids 4 Futures as another way to raise funds for career education and training programs designed to address the shortage of skilled information technology (IT) professionals.

"There is no greater satisfaction than to be able to contribute to building a better future for someone who typically wouldn't have this opportunity," said Brian Wiser, senior vice president, sales and vendor management, Ingram Micro North America. "That's what Creating Futures is all about and that's why this was a good fit for our organization. This partnership also provides Ingram Micro and CompTIA a platform to advocate careers in the exciting and ever-changing world of IT."

By training individuals with disabilities, veterans, women, minorities, disclosed workers, and at-risk youth for IT careers, the Creating Futures program is helping the IT industry grow and diversify its workforce.
