Former LA Times CEO Joins Imagine Learning, Inc.

Imagine Learning, a leading provider of English language software, today announced the appointment of Mark H. Willes as Chairman of the Board of Directors.

Provo, UT (PRWEB) February 9, 2008 -- Imagine Learning, a leading provider of English language software, today announced the appointment of Mark H. Willes as Chairman of the Board of Directors.

Mr. Willes was Chairman, President, and CEO of Times Mirror, parent company of the Los Angeles Times, from 1995 to 2000. He also served for a time as Publisher of the LA Times. Prior to joining Times Mirror, Mr. Willes spent 15 years with General Mills, Inc., serving as executive vice president and CFO, president and COO, and ultimately as vice chairman. Mr. Willes was previously the president of the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis and first vice president of the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia.

A strong advocate of children's literacy, Mr. Willes says, "Helping kids has long been a passion of mine. At the LA Times and the Baltimore Sun we started Reading by 9 to help kids learn to read at grade level by the third grade. My association with Imagine Learning gives me the opportunity to extend those efforts by using proven software to help children learn English as a second language. I love the way Imagine Learning programs help teachers expand the horizons of students at lower cost than any other option of which I am aware."

Imagine Learning CEO, Susan Preator says, "We are very fortunate to have Mark Willes join Imagine Learning. He brings a wealth of experience in management, finance, strategy, and international business. But he also brings an altruistic heart, in tune with the cause that drives Imagine Learning---opening doors of opportunity for children worldwide by teaching English. He has spent much of his time and money in philanthropic endeavors, touching the lives of many. We are honored to have him as part of our team."

Mr. Willes currently serves as Chairman of the Board for the Polynesian Cultural Center in Laie, Hawaii, and as a director of the Black & Decker Corporation. Mr. Willes received his A.B. degree from Columbia College, New York City, and his Ph.D. from the Columbia Graduate School of Business. Mr. Willes is married and the father of five grown children.
