2008 Lex Mundi Institute Announces Largest Graduating Class to Date

101 Lawyers Complete Cross-Border Training Programs and New Partner Management Programs

Houston (Vocus/PRWEB ) October 21, 2008 -- October 21, 2008 A record number of Lex Mundi member firm lawyers "graduated" from the 2008 programs offered through the Lex Mundi Institute. In July and August, 101 lawyers from 75 jurisdictions traveled to Monterey, California, to participate in the intensive one-week long training programs designed to assist new or soon to be partners in their cross-border practices and in their management and leadership roles. The 2008 Lex Mundi Institute programs included a Cross-Border Dispute Resolution Program, a Cross-Border Transactions Program, and two sessions of the Foundation Management Program.

The Lex Mundi Institute (LMI) is part of the Professional Development arm of Lex Mundi. It provides high quality, practical programs with an emphasis on international and comparative legal skills and law firm leadership. 2008 Lex Mundi Institute Programs

The Cross-Border Dispute Resolution Program, held July 27 - August 2, provided senior associates and junior partners with the knowledge and skills needed to represent clients in resolving cross-border commercial disputes. The courses offered covered professional values and legal ethics, presentation and negotiation skills, using legal writing to persuade, and international litigation and arbitration.

The Cross-Border Transactions Program, held July 28 - August 3, provided senior associates and junior partners with the information necessary to run cross-border transactions as well as to enhance their understanding of business concepts relevant to those transactions. The courses offered included advanced legal drafting, insights into running a cross-border acquisition, and building individual personal relationships through business development and client relations.

The two Foundation Management Programs, held August 17-23 and August 18-24, provided new partners with the knowledge and skills needed to be successful partners at their firms. The courses offered covered advanced legal writing and editing, the global legal marketplace and strategic planning, leadership development, law firm finances, business development and client relations.

The impressive international faculty included academics, in-house counsel, well-known consultants and senior Lex Mundi member firm lawyers who taught through interactive lectures, group discussion exercises and individual skills sessions.

2009 Lex Mundi Institute Programs

In 2009, the Lex Mundi Institute will offer five exceptional educational programs: a Cross-Border Labor and Employment Program (July 25-31), a Cross-Border Transactions Program (July 26 - August 1) and two sessions of the Foundation Management Program (August 24-30 and August 25-31). In addition, a new Advanced Strategic Management and Leadership Program will be offered in 2009 for Managing Partners. All programs will be held again in Monterey, California.
