NYCO Releases Second Album, 'Realize,' on May 13th

NYCO announces local Chicago release and concert performance May 18th at Park West Auditorium, to be followed by national release on June 10th.

Chicago, Illinois (PRWEB) May 13, 2008 -- If any band has challenged the traditions of rock, NYCO has. Once again, they have raised the musical bar with their second full length album, "Realize", to be released on May 13th.

Their 2005 debut album, "Two", introduced a set of popular songs that have been compared to John Mayer. The soundtrack achieves a remarkable level of rhythmic precision in the unique style of NYCO front man Ted Atkatz. Prior to forming NYCO, Ted was best known for his percussion playing with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.

"Realize" will be released locally on May 13th, and nationally on June 10th. The band is planning to perform "Realize" for the first time on May 18th, with a twist: the performance will feature full orchestra arrangements by Chicago and Los Angeles arrangers. NYCO will perform and be accompanied by the Elgin Youth Symphony Orchestra. Rarely does an independent rock band perform with an orchestra of more than 70 musicians, as shows of this variety are usually reserved for the long established artists. Chicago's own Renegades will open the performance at Park West to kick off NYCO's release show.

When Ted Atkatz left the Chicago Symphony Orchestra to start a rock band, he raised eyebrows with his decision. Rarely do people leave the CSO after such a short time, and those that do rarely become recognized for their song writing. The adventure continues with NYCO's latest album, "Realize," which continues to push the musical envelope. With reviews circulating in the New York Times and a flurry of radio attention already in Chicago, the buzz about the latest album is growing louder. One thing is for certain: NYCO continues to evolve as a band. Most importantly, NYCO constantly challenges its audience with masterful, complex music based in pop rock principles akin to Keane, Coldplay, and Wilco.

For the release of "Realize", NYCO created a music video for the track "Office Days" in conjunction with Fave Media Inc., a video production company and local search engine based in Chicago. The "Office Days" video was produced and directed by Fave with Ted's creative guidance. "Working with Fave was a great experience", Ted explained. "We were able to create a dynamic, state-of-the-art video in a timely manner at a reasonable cost. Their video expertise really shows and we're thrilled with the video!" In the 4 weeks the video has been available on GetFave.com, it has been viewed over 25,000 times.
