Suzanna Choffel Wins "Best Indie Band" Prize at Austin Music Awards - SXSW 2009

Suzanna Choffel was awarded the "Best Indie Band" prize at the 27th annual Austin Music Awards, which mark the official kickoff to the SXSW Music Festival. In addition, she was recently announced as a Finalist in the International Songwriting Competition; winners to be announced in April. These honors cap a flurry of recent media coverage for Suzanna Choffel.

Austin, TX (Billboard Publicity Wire/PRWEB ) March 19, 2009 -- Austin musician Suzanna Choffel won the "Best Indie Band" prize last night at the 27th annual Austin Music Awards, which mark the official kickoff to the SXSW Music Festival. Previous winners of the Best Indie Band award include Okkervil River in 2008 and The Octopus Project in 2007. Laura Scarborough, a member of Suzanna's band, won the "Best Austin Musician (Keyboards)" award, honoring her skills on vibes/accordion/synth/melodica. Suzanna and her band were also featured performers at the Awards, presented by The Austin Chronicle and South By Southwest. Suzanna Choffel's official SXSW 2009 Showcase will occur on Sat. March 21 at Momo's , presented by City of Austin and Indie Sounds Austin.

Suzanna was also recently announced as a Finalist in the International Songwriting Competition (ISC); winners will be announced in April ISC Finalists. The New York Times declared, "ISC has the most impressive group of judges from a variety of industry backgrounds in any songwriting competition. This makes ISC the songwriting competition to take note of."

In January 2009, The Austin Chronicle included Suzanna Choffel in "Nine Locals Poised To Break Out At SXSW 2009". She is also profiled in "9 Bands To Watch In '09" in the current March issue of Austin Monthly Magazine, and was the cover story in the winter 2009 issue of Austin Music+Entertainment magazine. Suzanna is also currently a Featured Artist in the Dell Lounge, and her music is currently featured on the Berkleemusic SXSW Compilation.
