Indie Film BACKSEAT Drives Major Interest on Web
The indie film, BACKSEAT, coming to select theatres March 28, is generating major interest since its trailer was posted on the Apple Trailers page and Yahoo Movies a month ago. In its first week on-line, the trailer, www.apple.com/trailers/independent/backseat, was one of the most watched trailers on both sites -- ahead of major studio releases.
New York, NY (PRWEB) March 20, 2008 -- The indie film, BACKSEAT, coming to select theatres March 28, is generating major interest since its trailer was posted on the Apple Trailers page and Yahoo Movies a month ago. In its first week on-line, the trailer, was one of the most watched trailers on both sites -- ahead of major studio releases.
The film won the Audience Award at the Austin Film Festival and has played to rave reviews and sold out screenings at festivals across the US and Europe. It was picked up for distribution this winter by Truly Indie -- a Wagner/Cuban Company and a sister company to Magnolia Pictures.

In BACKSEAT, two old friends flee New York City on a three-day road trip to Montreal to escape their problems and hopefully meet the great Donald Sutherland. Between running drugs and meeting a man who only communicates through instant messaging, they run head-on into the always lingering problem of real life.
The film was written by and stars Josh Alexander (who also currently plays Nick Pudder in the Southwest Airlines commercials). With a cast of talented new faces including Rob Bogue (Guiding Light), Will Janowitz (The Sopranos), and Aubrey Dollar (Women's Murder Club) and a soundtrack with some of the biggest indie acts currently playing the US music scene, BACKSEAT is an entertaining, and ultimately moving snapshot of a few generation Xers struggling to make sense of their adult lives and what they want from them.
