Ride2Work Bike Sales to Surge With big Business Backing

100 public sector organisations and big businesses including the NHS, GSK and local governments have signed up to the Cycle to Work Guarantee

London, UK (PRWEB) November 2, 2009 -- Almost 100 public sector organisations and big businesses, including the NHS, GSK and local governments, have signed up to the Cycle to Work Guarantee, an initiative where big employers pledge to support their staff riding to work by bike.

As a result Evans Cycles, the UK's largest specialist cycle retailer and the company behind the Ride2Work programme, are predicting a surge in sales through the scheme.

"We're contacted on a daily basis by public sector workers frustrated that they can't take advantage of the scheme because their employer isn't signed up," says Evans Cycles Ride2Work Manager Maja Oakes. "We could not more firmly support the governments push to encourage more employers, especially those in the public sector, to offer the cycle to work scheme and better cycling facilities to their staff."

"This year has delivered a tremendous growth in uptake of the green transport scheme, but it's frustrating to see so few public employers implement these benefits for their staff, organisations that should be leading by example. The opportunity that large employers have to rally with this incentive cannot be overstated: they should take pride in leading the way towards more responsible and environmentally friendly transport. Surely, there is no more immediate or significant way to reduce carbon emissions than by switching to cycles!"
