Magnalight.com Expands Line of Intrinsically Safe Fans and Blowers
Magnalight.com announced today, the new additions of electric powered intrinsically safe or "explosion proof" fans and blowers to its range of explosion proof lighting products.
Dallas, TX (PRWEB) November 18, 2008 -- While Magnalight.com previously offered only pneumatic, explosion proof ventilation fans and blowers, customers were also looking for electric powered, explosion proof fans and blowers. These types of fans and blowers have an intrinsically safe design to prevent sparking in hazardous locations that may have flammable gases. While the specifics are regulated at the state level, OSHA mandates that explosion proof air movers must be used in confined spaces to "turn" or clear stale air within confined spaces. Ventilation fans and blowers are rated by CFM, which is cubic feet per minute, a measurement of the velocity of air movement through a space.
Explosion Proof, Electronic Vent Fan
"Operators of environmental companies, petrochemical companies, manufacturing facilities, tank cleaning and blasting companies all need to keep the air within the work area fresh and remove stale air," said Rob Bresnahan, President of Larson Electronics' Magnalight.com operation. "Operators can measure the cubic feet of air in an area and determine the size and number of intrinsically safe air movers they require to refresh the air in that area every number of minutes (i.e. 8 minutes). In most cases explosion proof ventilation fans are used in conjunction with personal respirators to keep workers safe. Local state regulations dictate the specific amount of time that air must turn, but turning the air every 8 minutes is a common number," Rob continued. "So if the tank is 32,000 cubic feet and the blower is rated at 4,000 CFM, then the air will be refreshed roughly every 8 minutes. There are other variables, such as the length of ducting, but that is the general idea."
"Generally, pneumatic fans, powered by an air compressor, generate more CFM than their electric powered counterparts in the same form factor, usually by a factor of 2. However, the operator needs a compressor to operate the fan. The explosion proof fans and blowers that we offer are UL rated Class 1 Division for Groups C and D. Our EPF-30P is a very popular pneumatic model, because it is lightweight and produces more than 2000 CFM. The EPF-8P-E is our newest electric model, offering more than 1500 CFM.
For Magnalight.com, this is part of a comprehensive solution for petrochemical companies, environmental companies, blasting and painting operators, etc. We have expanded our range of portable and stand mounted explosion proof lights, intrinsically safe handheld lights, explosion proof headlights and tripod mounted and cart based tank lights to better serve those operators. Now, we are adding intrinsically safe air movers, blowers and ventilation fans, so we can be more of a "one stop shop" for our customers. We make every effort to manage a substantial inventory of these products, so we can ship same day or within a day of receiving the order. For the plant applications and paint spray booth operators, we have added a full line of fluorescent explosion proof lights, in both surface mount and wheeled cart formats. We have really worked aggressively to service the needs of our existing utility company customer base and add value to the environmental and blasting companies operating on a project basis," concluded Rob.
