The evening will feature a program of short films by artists and filmmakers in and from the South Coast and Cape Cod regions of Massachusetts and eastern Rhode Island, and will showcase the region's rich creative resources at a time when the entertainment industry is expanding into the area. It will culminate with the premiere of the short film "Homeland," which was filmed entirely in downtown New Bedford last April.

"Homeland" is the brainchild of former South Coast residents Don Burton (producer/director); Adam P. Cray (writer/producer/actor), of Westport and New Bedford; and Tommy Whalen (actor) of Dighton. All three are alumni of the University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth who now work in the entertainment industry in Los Angeles. Shot primarily at On A Roll Specialty Sandwiches in downtown New Bedford, the film tells the story of a young man who makes a routine stop at his local café after a long, cold day at work. After ordering, an encounter with an apparent suicide bomber forces him to ask himself, "Am I living the life I was meant to live?"

The evening will also include a question and answer session with filmmakers, and information about BridgeThink.org, a new group dedicated to the support of artistic interaction between the South Coast region and Los Angeles.

Tickets are $5, and may be purchased at On A Roll Specialty Sandwiches, 149 Union St, New Bedford, MA (508) 991-5200; Blush Beauty Bar 29 Centre St., New Bedford, MA (508) 991-2272 and Gallery X 169 William St., New Bedford, MA (508) 992-2675. They are also available online at http://www.homelandthemovieonline.com. Online purchases include a $1 service fee and will be available at "Will Call" on the night of the event.
