Emeryville, CA and Chapel Hill, NC (PRWEB) November 5, 2009 -- BioSoteria, Inc., a drug safety consulting and education firm, announced today that Michelle Nolin Flewell, Vice President of eLearning and Informatics, has earned the Certified Professional in Learning and Performance™ (CPLP) credential from the American Society for Training and Development (ASTD) Certification Institute. Earning the CPLP™ credential means Flewell possesses the knowledge and skills to be a top performer in the workplace learning and performance field.

To become CPLP certified, a candidate must have acquired industry-related experience, successfully passed a knowledge-based examination, and submitted a work product that meets performance standards. "The CPLP certification process is rigorous and it yields professionals with a breadth of knowledge that significantly benefits employers, colleagues and clients," says Jennifer Naughton, ASTD's Director of Credentialing. "Employing CPLP credential holders demonstrates the importance an organization places on successful training and learning programs."

Flewell joined BioSoteria in January 2008 with more than fifteen years of medical communications and health care training experience. She developed multimedia training for the biopharmaceutical and medical device industries for more than a decade, during which she directed, wrote, edited, and instructionally designed print-based training, eLearning, live and online synchronous workshops, and audio/video-based training. She also spent several years covering international medical conferences as a continuing education medical writer.

At BioSoteria, Flewell is responsible for driving the development of the company's online pharmacovigilance curriculum, known as eLadder™ Safety. Flewell assembled a multi-disciplinary team of subject-matter experts, instructional designers, medical illustrators, graphic designers, animators, eLearning programmers and learning management system (LMS) specialists. Several courses in the comprehensive pharmacovigilance curriculum have been released throughout 2009 and have been extremely well received by drug safety and training professionals in companies large and small.

"We hired Michelle Flewell because she possessed the unique skills and experience to lead the educational arm of our business," said Dr. Sally Van Doren, President and CEO of BioSoteria. "The CPLP certification, coupled with the successful deployment of BioSoteria's first-in-class eLearning pharmacovigilance curriculum, is confirmation of Michelle's excellence and innovation in learning solutions."

In addition to being a Certified Professional in Learning and Performance, Flewell is a two-time winner of the American Medical Writers Association award for editorial excellence. She is an active member in the Drug Information Association's Professional Education, Training, and Development Special Interest Area Community; a national member of the ASTD; and a member of the Research Triangle Park (RTP) ASTD chapter.
