ProQuo Increases Consumer Choice Over Postal Mail With Launch of
Catalog Preference Service
New Capability Adds to Wide Range of Services Aimed at Helping
Consumers Control Their Personal Information and Stop Junk Mail
LA JOLLA, Calif. (Business Wire EON/PRWEB ) February 19, 2008 --
ProQuo™ Inc., a company founded to give
consumers meaningful choice over how businesses use their personal
information, today announced the addition of a free
catalog preference service, giving consumers even more control over
the postal mail they receive.
Through an easy-to-use website at www.proquo.com,
consumers choose which catalogs they want to receive and which catalogs
they want to stop. As with all of ProQuo’s
services, the catalog preference option
is free of charge to consumers.
“Many of ProQuo’s
initial services were designed to help consumers stop unwanted mail, but
the addition of our catalog preference service is an important step in
helping consumers also get the marketing offers they really do want,”
said Steven Gal, CEO of ProQuo. “By
helping people choose to both start and
stop catalogs, we can provide value to consumers and retailers alike.”
This new service is an early version focused on 21 of the most popular
catalogs consumers receive in the U.S. Additional catalogs will
continually be added. Catalogs now listed on the ProQuo
website cover a wide range of popular retailers selling everything
from clothing and accessories to electronics, gifts and furniture.
Launched in October 2007, ProQuo
helps consumers manage how businesses use their personal information ―
like their name, address, credit worthiness and buying habits ―
to market to them. The free service
helps consumers choose the mail they do want, reduce
the paper junk mail they don’t want, and
protect against identity theft. Any information a consumer provides to ProQuo
is owned by the consumer and is never shared without that consumer’s
express consent.
