Veteran Content Provider Launches New Venture

Shawn Amos to Bring Trusted Pop Culture and Entertainment Brand to New Company, Amos Content Group

Los Angeles (PRWEB) November 4, 2009 -- Web personality, content creator and pop culture expert and commentator Shawn Amos today announced the launch of his new venture, Amos Content Group (ACG), which will specialize in providing clients with a wealth of resources to create, produce and maintain content unique to their brands. Amos will be leaving his current post as Senior Vice President of Content at the popular retro site Getback.com but will continue to oversee the site's content as a client of ACG.

Amos will also continue as host of the popular Web show "Retro Minute" in his new role. The high quality, high definition video currently reaches more than 150 million captive viewers per month and can be seen on screens at supermarkets, gas stations, restaurants, coffee houses, and Walmart locations across the country. Amos Content Group's editorial products include Amos' own daily music blog for Yahoo! Music and his weekly music column, "Play>Skip," for Fox411, as well as the company's additional content syndicated online at Yahoo!, MSN, FoxNews.com, and Huffington Post, among others.

For the past decade, Amos has been a trusted tastemaker and custodian of pop culture as he has been successfully producing, directing and writing content for a variety of entertainment companies. Prior to becoming a founding partner at GetBack, Amos was Vice President of A&R at Shout! Factory, where he developed and oversaw Shout's entire audio, live concert DVD, and comedy DVD release schedule, working with artists ranging from pop culture icons William Shatner and the Bangles to Grammy legends Solomon Burke and Herb Alpert. Amos also released his own album "Thank You Shirl-ee May" on the Shout! Factory label. During this time, Amos worked with Shout's ownership to create a digital strategy that led to the formation of a standalone digital media company, GetBack Media LLC.

Says Amos about his new venture, "Over the past decade, I've been lucky enough to be entrusted with the legacies of some of the heaviest artists in history. They've also taught me a ton about creating content that is true to yourself and your brand. Now it's time to take that experience and share it with my peers as well as other companies and business leaders who are new to the world of content creation."

Previously, as an A&R executive at Rhino Entertainment, Amos steered editorial content for the reissue label's deluxe anthologies and box sets, hiring award-winning entertainment critics, essayists and authors. He then went on to produce single and various artists collections from such heritage musical acts as INXS, The Sugarhill Gang and Quincy Jones (for whom Amos later ran the Quincy Jones Listen Up Foundation).

Amos is the son of Wally Amos, founder of the Famous Amos brand, and the first African-American talent agent for the William Morris Agency. Growing up in the colorful Hollywood landscape inspired Shawn to pursue a career in music and entertainment, and he is currently writing his first book, a memoir titled "Cookies & Milk: Scenes From a '70s Hollywood Childhood." Amos sits on the Board of Trustees for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum and the Los Angeles Board of Governors of the Recording Academy.

About Amos Content Group

Amos Content Group (ACG) was created in 2009 in response to the large number of digital businesses needing high quality video and editorial content for their Websites and offline networks. ACG develops content strategies for companies new to the world of content creation, as well as providing ongoing editorial and video support for companies looking to avoid the staffing commitments associated with building their own content teams.
