Peter Van Hartesveldt Joins the Firm in DC, Amber Grayhorse in LA
WASHINGTON & LOS ANGELES (Business Wire EON/PRWEB ) October 3, 2008 --
Peter
Van Hartesveldt joins Nossaman in Washington, DC as a Partner and as
part of the firm’s recently expanded public
policy law. He comes to the firm directly from the House Ethics
Committee where he served as Acting Deputy Chief Counsel, Director of
Advice and Education. Litigator Amber
Grayhorse joins Nossaman as an Associate in Los Angeles from another
large firm. Expansion of Nossaman’s public
policy law practice occurred as part of the July 1st
merger with Washington, DC firm O’Connor &
Hannan which doubled the size of the group.
“Peter Van Hartesveldt knows more about
Congressional ethics rules than virtually anyone else in the country,”
said Tim Jenkins, Chair of Nossaman’s public
policy law practice. “He helped draft the 2008
House Ethics manual and has deep knowledge of gift rules and the major
changes that resulted from the 2007 enactment of the House Leadership
and Open Government Act. He’s a great addition
to our in-demand ethics practice.”
“The tough economic conditions actually make
this a very attractive time to bring in talented lateral attorneys and
invest in the firm’s steady growth,”
said Nossaman Managing Partner Michael Heumann. “Along
with Peter Van Hartesveldt joining the firm in DC, we’re
pleased to have additional litigation
support from Amber Grayhorse in Los Angeles. Both attorneys are of the
highest caliber.”
Mr. Van Hartesveldt will work with Tim Jenkins and Fred Dombo advising
lobbyists, trade associations and corporate clients about the laws
governing their interactions with elected officials. In addition to his
five years working for the House Ethics Committee, he spent over a
decade working as a Judge Advocate for the U.S. Navy, where he last
served as the Navy's senior prosecutor and principal legal advisor for
Naval commands throughout Europe and Southwest Asia. Mr. Van Hartesveldt
