Soon, All Women Will Take Their Full, Rightful Place in the World

New York, NY (PRWEB) April 21, 2009 -- The First Ladies' Committee, a grassroots mission dedicated to restoring the dignity of women worldwide, is calling on Michelle Obama to convene a First Ladies' Summit in Washington to get the ball rolling on an action plan that will unite influential women including Oprah Winfrey in a cause that will benefit all of mankind.

Soon, all women will take their full, rightful place in the world.

How many more women will be beaten or raped or killed at the whim of men following "tradition"? How many more babies will be abandoned simply because they are not boys? How many more hard-working women will be denied a promotion because of their gender?

The election of Barack Obama and his appointment of Hillary Clinton as U.S. Secretary of State and Valerie Jarrett as senior adviser and head of a presidential council on women and girls presents an unprecedented opportunity for the "New Era" America to stand up and say: "No more!"

Mrs. Clinton has already served notice that bringing dignity to millions of women and girls worldwide who are "unhealthy, unschooled, unfed and unpaid" is among her top State Department goals. And Michelle Obama, speaking on the sidelines of the recent G20 London Summit, told a group of schoolgirls on behalf of the world's First Ladies that she is counting on them to "be the best that you can be."

The players needed to begin the mammoth task of ensuring every girl in the world has the tools and the support to be the best that she can be are in place. But where to start?

Veritas-Pax, LLC, which has established a website to garner grassroots support for the restoration of dignity to women worldwide, is calling on Mrs. Obama to get the ball rolling by convening a First Ladies' Summit in Washington. Such a summit will gather together the world's strongest voices in the fight for women's rights and capitalize on the momentum of recent events.

A summit is among the goals of The First Ladies' Committee, a grassroots campaign that invites Americans to speak up and spread the message that an enlightened person will not prevent a girl from going to school to be educated, an enlightened person will not murder a young woman because she supposedly "brought shame" to the family, and an enlightened person will not execute a teenager in love because she wants to elope.

It is the goal of the campaign's sponsor to hand over the website to the leadership of The First Ladies' Committee once the grassroots movement picks up momentum. Ideally, the committee would be chaired by nine influential women, including First Ladies Michelle Obama and Sarah Brown of Britain, backed by the star power of Oprah Winfrey and Angelina Jolie.
